Girls basketball: Mark Morris 69, Ridgefield 28

Bailey Hooghkirk made six three-pointers and scored 20 points, but the Monarchs led big in the first half and cruised to the 2A GSHL win.

Ashley Coons scored 1i7 points to lead Mark Morris (9-2, 4-0), which led 49-10 at halftime. Kourtney Eaton scored 13 points and Kearly Eaton added 11.

Mark Morris pressed effectively in the first half, Ridgefield coach David Heim said, resulting in too many turnovers by the Spudders (2-9, 1-3).

“We had a good second half,” Heim said. “I know they played a lot of subs, but the Eaton girls played in the third quarter and we only lost by two in the second half.”
