Letter: Port, public should work together

The Columbian

The idea of a community group formed to liaison with Port of Vancouver and citizens is one we should support. This is already effective at the Port of Seattle. The Neighbors Advisory Committee and the Port of Seattle staff meet regularly. The port staff participates with NAC’s monthly meetings, giving updates to issues and concerns. The port commissioners and NAC hold regular forums that have given local neighborhoods assurance their concerns are met. This is a good working relationship that helps the port and the citizens of Seattle.

Vancouver needs a similar group working to help neighborhoods and the port achieve exchange of information and seek understanding of our valuable port and city. Let’s get behind a movement to form this group.
