Recently, I was driving with my friend, Mary, to our bunco group in La Center. It was raining hard and the road was dark. I missed my turn, and when I pulled into a driveway, the right side of my car went into a small ditch. We were fine, so was the car. However, when I tried to back out, the car didn’t move.
A young lady named Melissa stopped and asked if we were alright. She stayed with us at least 20 minutes, making sure we got help. She called the police so that flares could be put on the road. A firetruck arrived, but they couldn’t get the car out of the ditch, either.
A policeman named Greg came and called for a tow truck. He directed traffic and told us to wait in the back seat of his car to keep warm while waiting for the tow truck. He waited until the tow truck driver got the car out before he went along for his shift.
