Vancouver PTA hands out awards to volunteers, educators

Lake Shore — The Vancouver Council PTA honored volunteers, educators and advocates in the Vancouver School District at the PTA’s June 3 meeting. Christine and John Streetman from Sacajawea Elementary School were given the Golden Acorn Award for their dedication to children. School board member Edri Geiger earned the Outstanding Advocate award, and Mike Stromme, former Vancouver School District associate superintendent, was presented with the Outstanding Educator award. Teri Davis, Region 3 PTA director, received the Outstanding Service Award. Honorary life membership was presented posthumously to Stephanie Kerr for her dedication to children, community and family at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. Her friends Connie Kolosvary and Cathy Huck accepted the award on her behalf and will present it to her children.
