Three full weeks past July 4 we in the Sifton Neighborhood are being bombarded nightly with leftover fireworks. I used to think fireworks were OK. They were until the last few years. It has become too much, and too dangerous.
This year the drought alone should have caused the neighborhood fireworks to stop. There was a fire right next to my house. I soaked my yard, and a pile of yard debris that wasn’t even mine, for fear it would go up in flames and take me with it.
I feel sorry for people with pets. I have a cat who rightly hides under the bed when the bombs start bursting in air. This year I joined her. She is better company than the idiots who confuse recklessness with patriotism.
