WALLA WALLA — A wildfire in southeast Washington that has burned more than 9 square miles is about 73 percent contained.

Fire officials say grass, brush and timber continue to burn in the interior of the Blue Creek Fire on state-protected private land about 10 miles east of Walla Walla.

The fire has destroyed one home and 11 outbuildings and led to about 11 minor or moderate injuries, ranging from burns to cuts and bee stings.

The fire started on July 20 and was human caused, but its exact cause is still under investigation.

Fire officials say weather in the area remains hot and dry, but winds have been generally light.
