SALEM, Ore. — The head of Oregon’s economic development agency is stepping down after a little more than a year in the job.

Gov. Kate Brown’s office announced Wednesday that Sean Robbins is leaving Business Oregon in the fall. Brown’s office said Robbins is returning to Wisconsin to be closer to family.

The governor credits Robbins with shifting the focus of Oregon’s economic development efforts. The state now emphasizes growing existing businesses over using incentives to recruit firms from other states.

Before taking the helm of Business Oregon in June 2014, Robbins led Greater Portland Inc., an economic development agency for the metro area.
