A former standout athlete at Vancouver’s Skyview High School has been sentenced to a year in jail for assaulting a man with a baseball bat in a Minnesota church parking lot last fall.
Jabari Javon Marshall, 20, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and was sentenced on July 16, according to the Chanhanssen Villager newspaper.
Carver County, Minn. sheriff’s deputies determined that a girl arranged to have Marshall attack her ex-boyfriend, the paper reports.
Marshall met the girl while working as a caddy at a golf tournament in Arizona and the two kept in contact, according to the paper. He became jealous when he learned of her former relationship with an 18-year-old Chanhassen, Minn. man. Marshall said that the man “needed to be taken care of.”
