Letter: Protest terminal affect on climate

Ninety seven percent of climatologists agree that climate change is real and is caused by burning fossil fuels. We must reduce our dependence on fossil fuels or our planet will no longer be able to sustain human life. How can we be so selfish to allow this to happen to future generations?

I was born and raised in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and have always been in awe of the spectacular beauty of our area. I don’t want it destroyed by the fossil fuel industry. I am outraged that Tesoro-Savage is proposing to build the nation’s largest oil-by-rail terminal in the United States, right here at the Port of Vancouver. To fight climate change this project must be stopped. I know there are several environmental groups working very hard to stop this oil terminal. They need our support.

In my dream world the people of Vancouver would stand tall and march in the streets to protest this atrocity. If only …
