A helicopter landed about 100 feet south of where its pilot had intended, prompting nearby residents to call 911 on Wednesday morning.

A Vancouver police officer was sent to investigate after a resident at Grandview Place, 19420 S.E. 192nd Ave., reported seeing the helicopter land in nearby wetlands just after 9 a.m., according to emergency radio traffic.

The officer learned that there was no emergency and that the pilot had landed about 100 feet in the wrong direction.

The helicopter, the officer said, was carrying Dean Kirkland, a well-known real estate developer who has property just north of the apartment complex.
