PORTLAND — Police fatally shot a man outside a northeast Portland supermarket.

Sgt. Pete Simpson of the Portland Police Bureau says two East Precinct officers met a suspect in a parked car late Sunday. During the encounter, shots were fired and the suspect was hit.

He says officers provided aid before paramedics arrived, but the man died at the scene.

Simpson says two other people were detained at the scene and a gun was recovered.

The names of the officers and the suspect have yet to be released.
