Letter: Bill eases administering auctions

A big thank you to Sen. Annette Cleveland, D-Vancouver, and Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver, for working together to pass Senate Bill 5768, which allows counties to have the option to conduct electronic property auction sales. This option will allow more public participation and ease in the administration of county auction sales. The prime sponsor was Rep. Terry Nealey, R-Dayton, of the companion House Bill 1799, and it was co-sponsored by Reps. Larry Haler, R-Richland, Liz Pike, R-Camas, and Dean Takko, D-Longview.

As Clark County treasurer, I would also like to give a big thank you to the entire Clark County legislative delegation for voting for the legislation and a special thank you to Reps. Jim Moeller, D-Vancouver, Sharon Wylie, D-Vancouver, and Paul Harris, R-Vancouver, in helping guide Senate Bill 5768 through the House. Also a special thank you to former Rep. Monica Stonier for sponsoring the House legislation last year, which helped pave the way for the successful outcome this year.
