Letter: It’s all about the mighty dollar

Why is it that the same folks who castigate President Obama’s every action want to hand him the keys to our country’s economic future?

Obama actually does something about immigration: Oops! Executive overreach = dictatorial inclinations.

Obama helps provide 16 million uninsured Americans with health insurance: Oops! Nanny State entitlements = transfer of wealth.

Obama utilizes the State Department to arrange agreements with Cuba and Iran: Oops! He’s selling out Florida and Israel with his naivete and weak negotiation skills, leading us right into Armageddon.

Obama seeks to commit us to an international trade agreement brokered by several hundred multinational corporations that will enrich Wall Street, further disempower American workers, create a binding appeals court beholden neither to current laws, precedent, nor logic, while being held unamenable to our sovereign jurisdictions and rule of law: OK, fast track that plan and give the president authority to put in place whatever measures he deems necessary to get the pact ratified.

Why do the rich and powerful and connected want to give away many of our hard-won rights and freedoms? Maybe it really is all about the money, which buys power and control.

Welcome to the drab new world of neo-feudalism.
