Washougal — Gause Elementary School students raised more than $9,000 at their Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser on March 5 and 6.
The event is organized by the American Heart Association to teach students about heart health and raise funds for heart and stroke research.
“It promotes the value of community service to the students and their families, and shows that they can contribute to their community’s welfare,” said Mark Bauer, a Gause physical education teacher, in a release from the school.
The school has participated in the event for eight years, raising more than $60,000, according to the release.
