Gina Owens has been selected as the new forest supervisor for the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Owens previously worked for the Packwood Ranger District in 1988 and is currently the deputy forest supervisor for the Umpqua National Forest in Roseburg, Ore. She begins her new job July 6, succeeding Janine Clayton, who is retiring.
Russell Brent, owner of Mill Creek Pub, was presented the Washington Association of School Administrators Community Leadership Award, which honors businesses that support teachers, schools and the district with time, talent and money.

Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. and its subsidiary, SEH America, received a Corporate Friend of Education award from Clark College and the Clark College Foundation at its donor appreciation event May 20. As a result of the company’s relationship with Clark College, students have benefited from a Japanese garden on its main campus, scholarships and fundraising events for Japanese students.
New businesses
Zara Clinic is celebrating the opening of its second location, at 1207 S.E. Rasmussen Blvd., Suite 119, in Battle Ground Village in Battle Ground. A grand opening party is set for 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a ribbon-cutting by the Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce at 5 p.m.
