Five Clark County high school bands took honors in Saturday’s PGE/SOLV Starlight Parade, which is part of Portland’s Rose Festival, and two Vancouver runners placed highly in the festival’s Legacy Health Starlight Run.

In the contest for out-of-state bands with 100 or more members, Heritage High School in Vancouver won first place, Mountain View High School in Vancouver won second place and Union High School in Camas won third place.

In the out-of-state contest for bands with 99 and fewer musicians, Skyview High School won second place and Hudson’s Bay High School won third place. Both schools are in Vancouver.

Oscar Bauman of Vancouver came in first in the men’s category of the Legacy Health Starlight Run. Jesse McChesney of Vancouver placed third in the same category.

The parade was in downtown Portland. For more information about the Rose Festival — events continue through June 19 — visit www.rosefestival.org.
