Korean War vets group posts new eligibilities

Military service in the Korean War is not a requirement for membership in the Korean War Veterans Association or its affiliates, officials of the local chapter said.

Eligibility has been extended to include two different categories of veterans. Those who served from June 25, 1950, to Jan. 31, 1955, anywhere in the world in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard are eligible.

Also eligible are any personnel who served honorably in Korea — including territorial waters or airspace — anytime from Sept. 3, 1945, to the present.

The local group is the Korean War Veterans Association of Southwest Washington, Richard L. Quatier Chapter. The group meets at 10 a.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at the 40 et 8 Chateau, 7607 N.E. 26th Ave., a mile east of Interstate 5 off Northeast 78th Street.

For information, call 360-573-1035, 360-256-8121 or 360-698-8830.
