VANCOUVER — Veterans Affairs officials will hold a town hall Monday in Vancouver, including a session to help vets file claims or talk with a patient advocate.

The town hall will start at 5 p.m. in Building 11, in the Columbia Room, at the Vancouver Division of the VA Portland Health Care System. The entry closest to Building 11 is off Fort Vancouver Way, across the street from Clark College.

At 4 p.m., any veteran interested in filing a claim for compensation or in speaking with a patient advocate can attend the claims clinic in the Columbia Room. Veterans and survivors will be able to file a claim for compensation, submit evidence, and speak to a VA claims processor all in the same day.

The claims clinic and the 5 p.m. town hall are part of the VA’s effort to regain veterans’ trust, according to a news release.

The town hall meeting is open to all members of the public.

In addition to information about the VA disability claims process, experts will be on hand to discuss vocational rehabilitation, medical programs, medical center appointments, military sexual trauma, suicide prevention, peer support, homelessness, patient advocates, women’s health and post-deployment transitions.

VA representatives will also be available to help veterans access benefits online.
