Day-use fees at public recreation sites in Washington and Oregon will be waived today, in honor of United States veterans, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

The fee waiver includes many picnic areas, boat launches, trailheads, and visitor centers.

The waiver won’t affect the Johnston Ridge Observatory near Mount St. Helens, which has already closed for the season.

In Clark County, day-use admission will be waived at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, Battle Ground Lake State Park and Paradise Point State Park.
