The condition of a Vancouver woman injured in a three-vehicle crash caused by an allegedly intoxicated driver has been upgraded from serious to satisfactory.

Evelyn Duran, 48, was driving a 2006 Scion south on state Highway 503 at about 10:20 p.m. Sunday when a 1994 Honda Civic crossed the centerline and collided with the Scion, according to court records.

The Honda had crossed the centerline after a 2004 BMW, also traveling north, crashed into the back of the Honda, pushing it into oncoming traffic, according to court records. The driver of the Honda, Melody Adams, was taken to an area hospital, where she was treated and released.

Duran was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, where she has remained since the crash.

Investigators say that the driver of the BMW, 25-year-old Dacoda Nelson of Battle Ground, was driving drunk and racing when the crash occurred, according to court records. He faces a charge of vehicular assault.

Family and friends of Duran set up a donation page to offset her medical expenses and loss of wages. Those interested in donating can do so at www.gofundme.com/mf9etj6s.
