KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — The Transportation Security Administration says it will no longer screen passengers at the Klamath Falls airport in Oregon.
The Herald and News reports that TSA’s regional director for Oregon says it wouldn’t be cost-effective to offer security screening because Klamath Falls has unpredictable air service and can’t maintain consistent passenger loads.
Regional director Michael Irwin wrote that the screening services might return if the airport’s business stabilizes.
Airport Director John Barsalou and City Manager Nathan Cherpeski say they disagree with Irwin.
Cherpeski says the city will work with its congressional delegation to have the decision reconsidered.
