Lake Stevens police commander sues city

EVERETT — The Lake Stevens police commander says he is being wrongfully fired and has filed a lawsuit.

The Herald reported Friday that Dennis Taylor, 53, says city leaders are trying to ruin his reputation.

Mayor Vern Little and former city administrator Jan Berg are named as defendants.

City officials declined to comment to the newspaper.

The lawsuit centers on a report by an investigator hired by the city that determined Taylor was being dishonest concerning his rebuking another supervisor.

The lawsuit says that conclusion is “false and defamatory.”

Taylor’s attorney said the city is retaliating against Taylor because he supported a former officer who received a $325,000 settlement from the city following a sexual harassment claim.
