JERUSALEM — Israeli officials say that troops have shot and killed a Palestinian attacker who stabbed an Israeli man to death at a West Bank gas station.

Monday’s attack is the latest in a fresh burst of violence ahead of the arrival of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.

Eli Bin, the director of the Magen David Adom rescue service, says the Israeli was stabbed in the stomach and died of his wounds. He says the same stabber also lightly wounded two women.

The attack on the 443 highway from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which cuts through the West Bank, came shortly after two Palestinian teenage girls stabbed a 70-year-old Palestinian man with scissors outside a central Jerusalem market, apparently mistaking him for an Israeli. One was shot dead.
