A man pulled a knife on a clerk Sunday night at a 7-Eleven in Vancouver’s Carter Park neighborhood, according to police, and the incident remained under investigation Monday.

Officers from the Vancouver Police Department responded to the store, at 102 W. Fourth Plain Blvd., just after 9:30 p.m., Vancouver police Lt. Kathy McNicholas said.

The man entered the store with two females, and one of the females attempted to purchase an item but her card was declined, McNicholas said. All three people left the building, but stayed near the front of the store, police said. The clerk found the behavior suspicious and confronted the three people, demanding that they return any property they might have stolen, McNicholas said.

The man then pulled out a 6- to 8-inch knife and threatened the clerk before the three fled, police said. The trio took off in a dark blue Chevrolet pickup with a blue shell on the bed, and the truck had a Washington license plate of B98388S, McNicholas said. She did not know if the suspects actually stole anything.

Police searched the area but did not locate any of the three. The vehicle was recently sold, McNicholas said, so the registered owner had not been verified yet.

Anyone with information about the incident or who recognizes the suspects in the surveillance photos can call Vancouver Police Department’s tip line at 360-487-7399.
