Letter: Vote for Pike to validate Madore

I’ve read the various letters in The Columbian relating to the GOP endorsement of a write-in campaign for Rep. Liz Pike, R-Camas, for Clark County council chair.

The final report on the Aug. 4 election reports the following statistics:

Mielke (R), 4,075 votes, 6.33%.

Stewart (R), 9,461 votes, 14.7%.

Madore (R), 16,405 votes, 25.64%.

Boldt (I), 17,133 votes, 26.63%.

Dalesandro (D), 17,137 votes, 26.64%.

Look at those numbers and tell me who would have won that election if David Madore had not been running against two other Republicans. If Jeanne Stewart had not entered the race as a “spoiler,” either Boldt or Dalesandro would have been out of the race.

No wonder the GOP is upset. I will write in Pike for council chair precisely because I believe she will support Madore’s policies. Madore is the only councilor fighting for the rights of the “little guy” in Clark County.
