After allegedly violating the conditions of her release — repeatedly — a judge has ordered that Tanya M. Leffler remain in jail, at least for now.

Leffler, 35, who’s accused in 2014 vehicular homicide and drug distribution cases, was out on bail for a third time — for $300,000 — when she didn’t show up for an Oct. 22 court appearance and left the state.

She appeared Friday in Clark County Superior Court after being taken into custody near Salem, Ore., on Tuesday morning by members of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Only one of her attorneys, Heather Carroll, was present at Friday’s hearing. Because of that, another hearing to address the alleged violations and to possibly set bail was set for Nov. 10, when both of her attorneys can be present.

Law enforcement had learned Leffler moved to the Salem area, in violation of the conditions of her release, and was there without permission of the court, according to court documents. Two warrants were issued for her arrest — one for each pending case.

The Battle Ground woman is accused of striking and killing motorcyclist James Luden, 54, of Vancouver while driving high on methamphetamine on April 14, 2014. Luden was stopped at an intersection.

Leffler posted bail for the initial charge last year, but violated her release conditions in August by possessing methamphetamine with the intent to sell it and by growing marijuana, court records said.

After posting bail a second time, she was back in court a few days later. That time, Leffler violated the conditions of her release by misrepresenting where she was living and failing to report to corrections officials, according to court documents.

Leffler was again due back in court Oct. 22 because she tested positive for methamphetamine after taking a urinary test a week prior, according to court records.
