PORTLAND — The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a man from the Willamette River after his boat overturned near the St. Johns Bridge in Portland.
Petty Officer Levi Read says dispatchers alerted the Coast Guard Sunday night that a man was clinging to the hull of a sailboat.
A response boat arrived in six minutes, rescuing the man from the 53-degree water. He was checked for injuries and released.
The rescue crew returned to the capsized boat and towed it to a boat launch.
