Grants to aid local law enforcement agencies

Clark County law enforcement agencies on Tuesday won more than $85,000 in grants for equipment, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, the grants’ administrators.

The city of Vancouver won $48,477 toward buying communications equipment at the Vancouver Police Department, and Clark County received $36,570 toward buying stun guns, leadership training software and technical equipment.

The Justice Department awarded more than $1 million in grants to local police agencies in Western Washington to support officer safety, community policing programs and technology improvements. Another $3.2 million was awarded to the state to fund various multijurisdictional task forces focused on drug trafficking and gangs.
