Esther Short — The Vancouver Community Library hosted its first Treasure-Re event on Sept. 13, and 118 people attended the fair where local experts shared tips, offered demonstrations and shared secrets for revisioning the home and garden. Experts at the event came from Washington State University Clark County Extension, Master Gardeners, Master Composters, Urban Eccentric, Most Everything Vintage and Boomerang. The second event in the six-part series was titled “Retro Re-fit” and was all about repurposing vintage clothing into something else. There are four more Treasure-Re events, each in the library’s Columbia Room on the first floor on Sundays from 3 to 5 p.m. The remaining topics are redistributing from a garden surplus on Sunday, creative urban living tips to save money and time on Oct. 11, inspiration and instruction to create a classic or unique costume on Oct. 18 and a clothes and accessories swap on Oct. 25.
