Several candidates forums scheduled

Political wonks have several opportunities in the coming weeks to hear from candidates for local offices.

The Battle Ground Chamber of Commerce and Clark County League of Women Voters are co-sponsoring a candidate forum and lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Thursday at The Cedars on Salmon Creek, 15001 N.E. 181st St., Brush Prairie.

Clark County council chair, Battle Ground city council and Battle Ground school board candidates will attend, according to a news release.

Each candidate will give opening and closing remarks, and answer questions prepared by the Battle Ground Chamber and League of Women Voters.

There is a lunch buffet at 11:30 a.m. Preregistration is encouraged.

Preregistration tickets are $17 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Tickets at the door are $20 regardless of membership. To register, visit battlegroundchamber.org.

The League of Women Voters will sponsor more forums next week. All forums are free and open to the public.

Candidates will give brief opening and closing statements, and answer questions prepared by the League of Women Voters.

At 6 p.m. Oct. 6, candidates for the Clark County chair position, Camas city council and two Washougal city council races will face off at the Camas Public Library, 625 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas.

At 6 p.m. Oct. 7, the candidates for mayor of La Center, Ridgefield city council, Cemetery District No. 6, and the Clark County council, District 2 position will speak at the Ridgefield Community Center, 201 N. Main Ave., Ridgefield. The League also invited the Woodland city council candidates, but they have not yet confirmed.

At 5:30 p.m. Oct. 8, candidates for the Evergreen school board, two Vancouver Public school board positions, three Vancouver city council seats and the Vancouver port commission seat will attend a forum at the Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St., Vancouver.

The Neighborhood Associations Council of Clark County is hosting a free forum at 7 p.m. Oct. 8 for the Clark County council chair and District 2 candidates. The forum will be held at the Community of Christ church, 400 N.E. 179th St., near the fairgrounds in Ridgefield.
