A medicine take-back program collected more than 2,000 pounds of prescription medication and other pills during a four-hour event Saturday.

About 1,000 people dropped off 2,025 pounds of medicine at the four locations across Clark County — the biggest take-back event the county has hosted.

All pills will be incinerated and plastic pill bottles will be recycled. Unopened and unexpired medicine will be donated to Clark County free clinics.

Unwanted medications can be disposed of year-round at several collections sites across Clark County. Controlled substances — such as painkillers and tranquilizers — can be taken to participating law enforcement agencies. Non-controlled substances can be taken to local participating pharmacies.
