SEATTLE — Seattle police say they’re investigating after officers shot two men in unrelated cases early Tuesday.

In the first, the department says it received reports about a 25-year-old man carrying a gun downtown just before 3 a.m. Tuesday. Officers found him at 2nd Avenue and Spring Street and shot him after ordering him to drop the gun. Medics took the suspect to Harborview Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

In the second case, police received a report of someone breaking into cars in the Maple Leaf neighborhood at about 4:45 a.m. They say officers chased the man on foot, and at one point he pulled a knife. Police tried but failed to subdue the man with a Taser, and an officer fired multiple shots.

The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center.
