This October, YWCA Clark County is kicking off a monthlong campaign to promote awareness around domestic violence. It includes workshops and challenges to highlight the importance of ending domestic violence.

• The YWCA is participating in the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge to raise money for nonprofits around the country that serve domestic violence victims. People can donate to the YWCA Clark County from Thursday through Oct. 27 at www.purplepurse.com. Whoever brings in the most money wins a purple purse designed by actress Kerry Washington.

• From 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 20, the YWCA will host the In Her Shoes workshop. Participants will step in the shoes of a woman in a violent relationship and be asked to make decisions, giving the participant a glimpse into challenges and obstacles women often face. There will also be versions involving teens, economic justice and immigrants (in English and Spanish). Workshops are every 15 minutes at the YWCA, 3609 Main St.

• The YWCA will share articles, updates and information on its blog, Facebook and Twitter pages.
