Esther Short — Supporters and volunteers of Meals on Wheels People raised $145,500 in one hour to provide 19,688 hot meals to seniors in Clark County at their spring luncheon presented by Columbia Credit Union. More than 400 area business leaders and volunteers attended the event at the Hilton Vancouver Washington to hear Mike and Sally Bacon, Washougal Center volunteers, deliver a keynote address. The Bacons shared how delivering Meals on Wheels is like their “happy hour” and invited all those in attendance to join them and begin delivering Meals on Wheels. Additionally, Scott Campbell, from Waste Connections Inc., received the Compassion for Seniors Award. Campbell has delivered Meals on Wheels for more than a decade and has been a longtime supporter and committee member of the Clark County Spring Luncheon. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Camas-Washougal, which provides funds for senior meals.
