Letter: Don’t vote out of anger

I have been fortunate enough to spend the last three summers in Ridgefield and, as an outsider, I’ve enjoyed learning more about the county that will be my future home.

Observing the shenanigans of senior county “leadership,” I feel that Clark County voters have an important role to play in the upcoming national election. They know what happens when anger and frustration drive an electorate to choose unqualified and unpleasant leaders.

Those leaders go on to run things in a way consistent with their lack of qualifications. They create unnecessary drama. They damage our future prospects by failing to invest in infrastructure. They indulge in what appears to be corruption — giving positions of power to other unqualified individuals and tax breaks to their friends. They blame their multiple and manifest failings on everyone but themselves. Above all, they fail mightily in doing the ordinarily boring job of government.

If you want the M&M brothers on a national scale, vote Trump. Otherwise, please let your fellow citizens know about the downside of going with your angry gut and voting for an incompetent pretend conservative.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
