Letter: Clinton critics: Consider the source

As we head into this year’s presidential election, here’s something we need to realize about Hillary Clinton:

Virtually everything we think we know about her character has been crafted by the right wing during an unprecedented 25-year-long smear campaign. It started during her husband’s tenure in the White House, when Mrs. Clinton showed herself to be politically active and astute, and the right wing identified her as a potential presidential candidate and began their efforts to mold the public perception against her.

Throughout all these years, the so-called “pundits” on Fox News and the 900-plus right-wing hate-radio stations have hurled countless allegations of Mrs. Clinton’s supposed wrongdoings against the wall, and literally not one of them has ever stuck, from Whitewater to Vince Foster to Benghazi. But what has stuck are the epithets “liar,” “cheater,” “dishonest,” which are no more true of her than of any other politician.

Keep this reprehensible disinformation campaign — straight out of the Goebbels handbook — in mind when you are deciding how to vote.
