NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY COMMISSION MEMBERSHIP
Lisa Gibert, president/CEO of the Clark College Foundation, has been named to a three-year term on the Council for Advancement and Support of Education commission on philanthropy, which has 17 members nationwide. The commission provides counsel to CASE leadership to make certain that programs, products and services reflect current understanding and emerging trends.
She has been involved with the Clark College Foundation for nearly 20 years — as an auditor with Moss Adams, as the finance director and CFO, and since 2005 as president and CEO.
TEACHING FELLOWSHIP AWARD
Columbia River High School’s incoming math teacher, Matt Sakow, was selected by the Knowles Science Teaching Foundation as one of 34 recipients of the foundation’s Teaching Fellowship. The foundation provides early-career math and science teachers a package of benefits for five years, including summer stipends, funds for professional development, grants for teaching materials, and mentoring and support from experienced educators.
He will begin his first year of teaching at Columbia River High this fall.
MUNICIPAL LEADERSHIP AWARD
Ridgefield City Councilor Darren Wertz has received an Advanced Certificate of Municipal Leadership from the Association of Washington Cities. The leadership program is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of elected municipal officials to effectively operate within the law, plan for the future, secure and manage funds and foster community and staff relationships.
