Save the Date: Heat up your weekend with some cool wine and jazz

Head to the heart of downtown Vancouver for hot summer jams at the Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival. Tonight’s music will include rising jazz star Grace Kelly with her quartet, Grammy-nominated Alfredo Rodriguez and The Family Stone. Sunday will finish with the Grammy-nominated Heritage Blues Orchestra, blues entertainers Tommy Castro and the Painkillers and the legendary Bettye LaVette. Columbia Tech Center and Ameriprise Financial will host a movie night in the park featuring games and activities at 7 p.m. tonight, followed by “Zootopia,” rated PG, at dusk. The French tradition of artists painting the landscape in “open air” will take over the streets of downtown Camas for its First Friday: “Plein Air Art Event.” Participating artists will be working on their paintings from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 2, with the finished artworks displayed in front of Camas Gallery from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitors can vote for the People’s Choice Award. Over Labor Day Weekend, the members of the Southwest Washington Winery Association will host a Food and Wine Pairing Tour, with winemakers offering up a variety of its wines with local culinary bites. The Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program presents its second annual Battle of the Lawyer Bands. The annual Columbia Flyway Wildlife Show offers a look into the artistic world of wildlife carving, from duck decoys in the fountain pool to realistic sculptures of birds, fish and mammals.
