Letter: Continue support with levy passage

By Heather Chenevert, Vancouver
Published: February 6, 2016, 5:59am

Friends and classmates of my children need the community’s vote on Feb. 9. This levy for Evergreen Public Schools must pass because it is integral to the success of our students and the future success of our community. The education provided by Evergreen is leading to the caregivers, scientists, medical professionals, first responders, teachers, technicians, and community leaders of the future. If we show our kids that we value education, they will return to us after graduation and help enhance and promote Vancouver.

The levy is a three-year replacement levy for the district and does not add to the current rate that property owners are being assessed.

The dollars generated by your vote will continue to help my children, their friends, and classmates achieve academic and leadership success through programs such as band, orchestra, sciences, math, computer sciences, sports, history courses, business, communication and literature. As a community we have shown tremendous support for Evergreen Public Schools and I ask that you continue to show this support by voting “yes” for the Evergreen replacement levy.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
