Fire investigators are asking anyone with information about an intentionally set car fire in Vancouver’s Marrion neighborhood to call them.

The fire was reported at about 11:15 a.m. Sunday at 10508 N.E. 10th St., and arriving crews put out the flames coming from a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis, Vancouver Fire Marshal Heidi Scarpelli said.

The fire, which caused an estimated $1,000 in damage to the passenger area of the vehicle, was ruled an arson, Scarpelli said.

“Arson is a very violent crime and obviously we treat it very, very seriously,” she said.

The agency is working with the regional arson investigation team on leads, and Scarpelli asks that anyone with information about the incident call the fire marshal’s tip line at 360-487-7206.
