MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — Authorities say four people were shot and wounded outside of a western Michigan high school, including a man suspected of carrying out the attack who was shot by a sheriff’s deputy.

Muskegon Heights’ interim police chief, Joseph E. Thomas, Jr., says it doesn’t appear that anyone suffered life-threatening wounds in Tuesday night’s attack. He says two of the victims are female and one is male, and that the man shot by the deputy is believed to be the sole attacker.

Alena Zachery-Ross, the superintendent of Muskegon Heights Public School Academy System, said in a statement that two victims are students at Muskegon Heights High School.

WOOD-TV reports that the prosecutor’s office says it plans to charge the suspect later Wednesday. Thomas says he’s from the Grand Rapids area.
