SEATTLE — King County authorities have identified a woman whose remains were found behind a shipping warehouse in Seattle more than a quarter-century ago.

The Seattle Times reports that the victim has been identified as 26-year-old Celia Victor, who disappeared in 1989.

Detectives say Victor’s remains were found by a construction crew behind the old Honolulu Freight shipping warehouse in Oct. 3, 1989.

An autopsy determined the woman died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Investigators had been unable to determine the woman’s identity until recently when Donna Vasquez, of Sacramento, California, identified the victim as her sister after seeing her photograph on a TV news station. DNA samples have recently confirmed Victor’s identity.

Her death remains under investigation.
