Vancouver neighborhood watch program seeking volunteers

Clark County — City of Vancouver residents who are 21 and older looking to volunteer this year and give back to the community have a few weeks left to apply to the Neighbors on Watch (NOW) Program in time for the spring training session. NOW volunteers assist the Vancouver Police Department by patrolling neighborhoods in pairs on foot, bike and in vehicles.

They are trained to report anything suspicious or criminal and act as extra eyes and ears in the community by helping canvass for missing children, locating stolen vehicles and teaming with police on special projects. Once trained, volunteers are asked to patrol at least four hours a month. To be considered for the spring training session, fill out an application by Jan. 27.

For more info, go to www.cityofvancouver.us/police/page/neighbors-watch-now-recruiting-additional-volunteers or call Kelly Cheney, volunteer services coordinator at 360-487-7467.
