A 36-year-old Beaverton, Ore., man made a first appearance Thursday in Clark County Superior Court after allegedly propositioning a 14-year-old girl for sex.

Joshua E. Harris appeared to face allegations of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes, possession of methamphetamine and third-degree attempted rape of a child.

Harris was arrested Wednesday outside a business on Northeast Andresen Road after responding to an online ad, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Superior Court.

During his hearing, Judge Scott Collier appointed defense attorney Jeff Sowder to represent Harris and set bail at $20,000.

Harris told Collier, “This is not me. This has never been me.”

He will be arraigned Jan. 28.
