No plans for a revival of ‘This is Your Life’

You have questions. I have some answers.

Growing up I remember watching a show called “This Is Your Life” hosted by Ralph Edwards. I see the networks are bringing back old game shows. Any possibility of “This Is Your Life” being resurrected?

There’s always a possibility, but nothing is certain. Created by Edwards, who was also a successful TV producer, the series featured folks surprised by the host, who then sat them down and went through their life stories, including visits from old acquaintances and relatives.

After starting as a radio show, it was a TV series on NBC from 1952 to 1961. It then came back in syndication, with Edwards again hosting, in 1971-72. Another syndicated version, this time hosted by Joseph Campanella, ran in 1983-84. There was also a special in 1987.

In 2005, there were plans for new episodes on ABC, with Regis Philbin hosting, but they went nowhere. In 2008, producer Mark Burnett (“Survivor”) made a deal for a new version of the series, but that did not happen either. There have also been overseas versions and, shortly before Edwards’s death in 2005, a DVD collection of selected episodes.

Some time ago, there were four new episodes of “The X-Files.” There was talk that it might be coming back as a series. Can you tell me if this will be happening? I loved the show and have been waiting to hear something on this.

Fox actually aired six episodes in what it called an “event series” form, meaning basically that the network was not trying to launch a multiseason program. It was a mixed bag, some episodes being delightful and others a somber mess.

There has been no announcement of more episodes. But all the key participants have indicated they would be willing to do more if their respective schedules (and presumably, their salaries) could be worked out — at least on a limited basis.

David Duchovny, for one, told Entertainment Weekly before the show returned that “I don’t know that I could do a 20-episode version of this show at this point in my life, and I don’t know that Gillian (Anderson) could. But I think everybody is open-ended on what happens after this. Certainly, we didn’t bring it back with the idea of ending it.”

Has “Storage Wars” ended?

The ninth season wrapped up in May, but there should be a 10th season down the road. I don’t have a return date.

I love “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. Will there be more of them?

The channel has plans for more movies under that banner in 2016. The next is “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: One in a Million,” coming July 24.
