Central Park — The Bank of America Charitable Foundation awarded a $20,000 grant to Clark College for a financial empowerment coach, who will work with students to help them stabilize their finances and increase the likelihood of meeting their economic, educational and career goals.

The coach will work through Clark College’s Career Services department and allow the college to hold workshops, classroom presentations and one-on-one sessions focusing on budgeting, balancing a checkbook, setting long-term financial goals and understanding credit cards, credit scores and loan repayments.

In a release from the college, Lisa Gibert, president and CEO of the Clark College Foundation, said the full-time coach “assisted 64 students in one-on-one sessions over a seven-month period, held 27 different budgeting workshops for scores of other students, and conducted specialty workshops for the Veterans Resource Center and the Pathways Center.”
