A Yelm woman was taken to a hospital by LifeFlight after she was injured while hiking Saturday near the Lower Falls Campground.

Stephanie Amell, 37, was hiking with her boyfriend near the Lewis River when she tripped and fell while attempting to reach the water’s edge, according to the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office.

Amell fell 10 to 15 feet and suffered arm, rib and back pain, the sheriff’s office said.

Amell was being assisted by hikers and campers when a deputy and medics from North Country Emergency Medical Services responded.

She was taken by ambulance to Swift Campground, where a LifeFlight helicopter took her to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. She was listed in satisfactory condition.
