TILLAMOOK, Ore. — The state Department of Fish and Wildlife has begun lowering Cape Meares Lake for dam repairs.

The lake northwest of Tillamook and is a popular fishery for trout, bass, and surplus hatchery steelhead.

The Statesman Journal reports that the repairs are scheduled to begin in late summer. Anglers and boaters will likely find reduced access to the boat ramp and reduced shoreline until the project is finished this fall.

The dam is in the southeast corner of the lake.
