Letter: Participate in bettering oneself

Is affordable housing another participation trophy? So you didn’t learn a skill and now you are homeless and without a job. Did you have a job? Did you show up on time? Did you show up every day or put in more time to learn that job?

Pick up the trash around your campsite, around the community or neighborhood. Grab a broom and start being an asset not a blight to the community; even pull some weeds at your local park.

Can you wash dishes? If so get a job washing dishes and then look around to see if you can learn to prep or do more at that establishment.

The reward is a job, responsibility and earning respect, not a participation trophy. Having a little money leads to a better life. Stop wasting your money on cigarettes, tattoos and learn how to shop for the items you need at the proper store to receive the best pricing. Get a haircut, a shave, take showers and wash your clothes. There are plenty of sources to get help but you need to take responsibility and quit looking for your participation trophy.
