PORTLAND — A county prosecutor says a man who was at the occupation of an Oregon wildlife refuge has been arrested after threatening to shoot federal law enforcement officers.
District Attorney Jim Carpenter tells The Oregonian (http://is.gd/LXIuOR ) that Scott Willingham was arrested at a motel after saying he would shoot federal officers if he wasn’t jailed, and that Willingham said during an arraignment Thursday that he’s awaiting arrest for his role in the standoff at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.
Willingham is not listed among the 26 people indicted in the refuge case, although the name of one defendant has been redacted.
In Grant County, Willingham faces charges of disorderly conduct and unlawful use of a weapon. He has applied for a court-appointed attorney.
Willingham told The Oregonian last month that he joined the refuge protest shortly after it began and left after Ammon Bundy and other leaders were arrested.
